Teaching Experience: A Journey of Empowering Learners Across Contexts

Teaching has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my professional journey, offering me the chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of diverse learners. My experiences span multiple settings, each bringing unique challenges and opportunities to inspire growth and curiosity in my students.

At Grandparents University at Michigan State University, I had the privilege of teaching “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” to multi-generational groups of grandparents and grandchildren. The diversity in age and background made this experience uniquely rewarding. Crafting a curriculum that resonated with both children and adults required me to simplify complex AI concepts into accessible, engaging lessons. The enthusiasm of participants as they explored AI applications underscored the transformative power of education to bridge generational gaps.

As a Communication in English Teacher for EPIC at Michigan State University, I worked with adult learners to enhance their oral communication skills. Designing personalized lesson plans for in-person and virtual classes helped me address individual learning goals while fostering a supportive classroom environment. Monitoring progress and providing detailed feedback allowed me to witness my students’ growth in confidence and fluency—an incredibly gratifying outcome.

My early teaching experiences at Avinava Academic Coaching and King’s Cadet Coaching in Dhaka, Bangladesh, provided the foundation for my teaching philosophy. Working with students aged 10-15, I taught English grammar, comprehension, and speaking skills in small group settings. These formative years taught me the importance of patience, adaptability, and creating an interactive environment that encourages active learning. Seeing my students succeed academically and communicate effectively fueled my passion for education.

Across all these roles, my teaching has been guided by a belief in learner-centered instruction and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning atmosphere. Whether teaching AI concepts to multi-generational groups or refining language skills for adult learners, my goal has always been to empower students to realize their potential and pursue their goals with confidence.

Through these experiences, I have not only honed my teaching skills but also gained invaluable insights into the diverse ways individuals learn. These lessons continue to shape my approach to education, inspiring me to innovate and adapt as an educator dedicated to making learning meaningful for all.

Training Professionals: Bridging Corporate and Educational Expertise

Throughout my corporate roles at Ilmiya and Staff Asia, I had the opportunity to merge my passion for education with professional development by training numerous professionals on a variety of topics. From copywriting and course material development to curriculum design and online course management, these sessions allowed me to empower teams with the skills they needed to excel in their roles.

At Staff Asia, I led workshops and hands-on training sessions for teams comprising curriculum designers, graphic designers, and instructional designers. My focus was not just on technical skills but also on fostering a collaborative environment that encouraged innovation and critical thinking. For instance, while guiding curriculum designers, I emphasized aligning content with learner needs and industry standards, ensuring the training delivered both immediate and long-term impact.

Similarly, at Ilmiya, I conducted targeted training programs to prepare content developers and course managers to leverage cutting-edge tools like Rise 360 and LMS platforms. My approach blended practical demonstrations with real-world applications, enabling participants to immediately apply their learning to ongoing projects. Seeing professionals confidently manage projects and improve the quality of their output was one of the most rewarding aspects of these roles.

These experiences not only honed my ability to teach in a corporate setting but also deepened my understanding of adult learning principles. They reinforced my belief that education is a continuous journey, one that is just as vital in the corporate world as it is in traditional classrooms. By equipping professionals with essential skills and fostering a growth mindset, I aimed to enhance both individual performance and organizational success.

This intersection of corporate training and education has been pivotal in shaping my teaching philosophy, inspiring me to create learning experiences that are engaging, practical, and transformative.
