Teaching Philosophy

My teaching approach combines technology-enhanced learning with learner autonomy, grounded in two key frameworks: the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework and postmethod pedagogy.

Drawing from my personal experience as an ESL learner who achieved proficiency through technology-integrated authentic content (movies, sports news, and online gaming), I understand how digital tools can transform language learning. This experience, combined with TPACK (Mishra & Koehler, 2006), shapes my teaching philosophy.

Core Principles

  1. Technology-Enhanced Learning Environment
    • I carefully select digital tools that enhance both content delivery and teaching strategies
    • Students engage with authentic materials through platforms like Rise 360, H5P, and AI-based conversation partners
    • Technology integration follows TPACK principles, ensuring meaningful connections between content, pedagogy, and digital tools
  2. Learner Autonomy and Self-Direction
    • Following postmethod pedagogy (Kumaravadivelu, 2003), I encourage students to take ownership of their learning journey
    • Students set personal language goals and track their progress through digital portfolios
    • Regular student conferences and digital surveys help align teaching strategies with individual needs
  3. Inclusive and Adaptive Teaching
    • Digital tools are selected to support different learning styles and language backgrounds
    • Assessment combines traditional methods with technology-enhanced evaluation
    • Cultural sensitivity guides both content selection and technology integration

Professional Growth

I maintain a commitment to professional development by:

  • Staying current with emerging educational technologies
  • Strengthening all TPACK components (technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge)
  • Continuously adapting teaching methods to meet evolving student needs

In conclusion, my teaching philosophy centers on creating a technology-rich environment where students become autonomous learners. By integrating TPACK principles with postmethod pedagogy, I facilitate personalized language acquisition that prepares students for real-world communication in the digital age.
