From an Idea to 1.5 Million Downloads: My Journey with an English Grammar App

When I started my first full-time job, I had no idea that the project I was working on would reach over 1.5 million downloads. It was more than just a job—it was the beginning of my journey as an educational content creator and a testament to how persistence and passion can lead to meaningful impact.

I was hired by TOS Technology BD, a software development firm, to create content for an English grammar app (Click here to check it out). The goal was simple: provide users with a platform where they could read grammar rules and practice grammar topics in an accessible way. While the app itself is quite simple and still has room for improvement, its impact cannot be denied. Millions have used it to sharpen their English skills, proving that even the most basic tools can make a difference in people’s learning journeys.

At the time, my salary was only 15,000 BDT (about $150) per month—barely enough to cover expenses. Many people around me questioned whether it was worth the effort. Adding to the challenge was my four-hour daily commute—two hours each way on a bus. It was exhausting, but I believed in the project. I saw potential in what we were building, and that belief kept me going.

Looking back now, I realize how significant this experience was. It wasn’t just about writing grammar lessons—it was about creating something that reached and helped millions of learners worldwide. The success of the app serves as a reminder that even the simplest ideas can lead to something big if you’re willing to put in the work.

This journey taught me that impact matters more than immediate rewards. That app, which started as just a project, became a tool that helps countless people learn. And for me, that was worth every long commute and every low paycheck. Sometimes, the biggest successes come from the smallest beginnings.
